Loy Allen is a masterful lampwork or torchwork glass artist. After learning basic lampworking in her home State of South Dakota, Loy studied advanced glass techniques at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina and at The Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York.
Inspired by the Art Nouveau Age and the plant and animal life around her South Dakota studio, Loy uses her lampworking skills and techniques to depict the natural forms of South Dakota, including magnificent glass sculptures of grasshoppers, dragonflies, praying mantids, butterflies, among other charming little critters and luscious orchids.
Her work truly celebrates the mystery and power of nature according to her own artistic expression.
