Affordable Fine Sculpture
Designs for Tranquility has a select collection of sculptures from different mediums and sculptors/artisans.  We currently offer a mix of most affordable sculpture that is a tribute to this artform in technique and design.  Mediums include contemporary ceramics,  steel, composite bronze-like materials, cold cast copper and solid brass.

The work of three Sculptors is shown here.

Jeff Margolin:  Look at the first set of thumbnails on the right.  Can you guess the medium used?  We bet (because we sure did) you thought stone (maybe marble) and coral.  As you now may expect, NOT!  This incredible work of art is all non-glazed ceramic!  The sheen comes from a major amount of hand rubbing (burnishing).  The striations are created by incorporating human hair.  The "coral" effect or elaborate sculpting is all hand carved.  What talent, strength and patience!  Each piece is a one of a kind.

Michael Alfano: This ultra accomplished sculptor works predominately in bronze.  His work was commissioned  to create a most impressive 9/11 Memorial sculpture for Mass. and that he did!  This extraordinary piece of art shown to the right, was unveiled in 2007 and is now available in a tabletop size.

Other exceptional pieces are also available for your home or office.  Many of the tabletop and wall hanging pieces are made very affordable based on the sculptor's use of a composite material with a bronze or gold finish. Another affordable technique is Michael's  use of  cold cast copper  instead of all bronze.   The resemblance to the "real thing" is very impressive!

The next set of thumbnails show examples of such sculptures, periodically on display in our Gallery.

The versatile steel sculpting of Bill Wessel so expresses our tranquil and nature-themed brand.  One of Bill's pieces were on display during our visit to Santa Fe in the fall of 2008. We immediately were drawn to Bill's fine craft and his sensibility to nature.  Bill has developed his own amazing coloring techniques  for steel that are striking and weather resistant.  His "Leaping Frog" sculpture is an example of the athletisicm of this creature imbued with a timeless coloration.  Enjoy this sculpture indoors  or out!

The "Lover's Nest" shows a softer side in composition coupled with the heavenly bond of an embrace.

We are delighted to display the creative and expertly crafted brass sculptures  from San Pacific International (SPI).  Their brass nautical and nature themed sculptures made from the time honored lost wax technique are abundant.  We currently have a number of their sculptures featuring  the enchanting Sea World of Dolphins, Marlins and Sail Fishes.
