Pat is a highly accomplished fiber artist, starting her journey into this art form in 1975. After much experimentation, Pat turned her focus to papermaking. The result has been the intricate collage/constructions which reflect both her 30 years of painting and fiber background.
Papermaking is an art that traces its roots to China. Any type of vegetable matter can be used to make paper. Pat’s work is made primarily from abaca. The abaca pulp is dyed with only organic materials. Each paper collage is formed by placing layers of the colored pulp over each other until a highly three dimensional piece is formed. Other natural materials such as Flax, twigs, reeds, tampico grass, muslin are sandwiched between the layers of pulp to complete the composition.
Our first experience seeing Pat's art form, immediately took us to where we were married, i.e. Sedona Az, a most enchanting place of tranquility. That's when we knew we had to showcase this thought provoking and intensely colored imagery.
