Sabzi's paintings are" lit " by both eastern and western lanterns and philosophies. Born in Persia, Sabzi's work is a mosaic of several influences including watching his Mother intricate weaving of Persian rugs, his talent as a musician/composer and the gardens of his Grandmother. Another major source of inspiriation for Sabzi is the Modernist Masters, Cezanne and Matisse. Sabzi's treatment of the human face as luminous geometric planes is a key signature of his paintings. Sabzi’s subjects are almost always women-- beautiful, reticent and melancholy; they reflect love, mystery and solitude.
