"Lower Impact " jewelry is the vision of McKenna Hallett. Living in Hawaii, McKenna gathers old metal objects such as copper and aluminum from abandoned buildings, old car and appliance parts, radiators and irrigation pipes. She designs and reshapes these items into a most distinctly beautiful collection of jewelry without using any electricity or fossil fuels. It's all done by hand and foot. Yes, foot, by converting an old sewing machine into a grinding wheel (See photo below.) Pendants are hung on an adjustable length of neutral colored cable from the fishing industry that is practically indestructible. What creative genius and true passion to her cause of Eco-conscienceness!
